Latest News:

Our scan tool software now includes support for fuel consumption readings.  You can display Miles per Gallon (MPG) or Gallons per Hour (GPH) and metric unit L/100km or L/hr readings in both table and graph form.  Also, select from instantaneous readings or timed averages over user selectable time periods.  Increase your fuel efficiency.  Find out what your most efficient speed is.  Test different modifications to your car like: What effect an aerodynamic change might have?  Is it worth overinflating tires?  Is pure gas better than 10% ethanol?  How much effect does A/C have, or headlights, or open windows, or removing the roof rack, or lowering the tailgate?  These are all impossible to test over an entire tank of gas calculating an average.  With gas prices soaring feedback like this can save you money at the pump!

New lower prices.  We've dropped our prices to help you get ready for the summer car season and we have added a USB scan tool package!  Check out the Buy It Now page for more info!

Version 4 Software now available.  New user friendly charts allow zoom, pan, print and save image.  And now available in Version 4, the Performance Module with Dyno, Acceleration, and Braking!

Bowser Electronics, a company dedicated to the development of economical scan tool solutions, has developed a scan tool that balances the need for a full feature scan tool at an affordable price.  Our scan tool enables consumers to utilize 21st century vehicle troubleshooting and repair technology without paying the high price for a commercial or factory scan tool.

Our PC based OBD-II Diagnostic Scanner can retrieve and describe both generic and manufacturer specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) giving you valuable information about why your check engine light (MIL) is illuminated.  Once a trouble code has been retrieved, you can use the scan tool to check for the cause by looking at live sensor data, emission related test results and sensor data from when the trouble code was set.   Once the problem is identified and repaired, the scan tool can reset the check engine light and clear the trouble code.   To check if your car is compatible, see the OBD-II Diagnostic Scanner FAQ

Our easy to use program has:

  • Access to over 80 'Live Data' Sensors* including O2 sensors with data capturing and large data display with graphing.  Select only the sensors you want to view from an easy checklist to maximize data rate.   Graph/display up to 5 sensors from an easy to use drop down list and flexible secondary axis selection or select complete tabular display with an unlimited number of sensors displayed (MODE 1).
  • Access to the status of all 11 Readiness Monitors and Test Results of the many individual tests including manufacturer specific test result definitions* that go into determining the pass / fail of each readiness monitor test (MODES 5 & 6).
  • Access and clear thousands of both generic and manufacturer specific diagnostic trouble codes* with descriptions.  Also, see a snap shot of the live sensor data when a trouble code was triggered (MODES 2, 3, 4 and 7).  DTC lookup available offline.

  • Access OBD Vehicle Information* including VIN, Calibration ID's, Calbration Verification Numbers, and In-Use Performance Tracking Counters (MODE 9).

  • Vehicle performance analysis.  View Dyno, Acceleration, and Braking data and graphs.
  • Vehicle bus monitoring.  See the network traffic on your vehicle and see what controllers are sending information.
  • Manual Communication mode.  Send requests directly to the vehicle bus and view the responses. Allow continuous data retrieval as well as response screening and data formatting.  Use this mode to communicate directly with all Powertrain, Chassis, and Body controllers.  This includes Brake controllers, Steering Controllers, Climate Control Controllers, and many more.
