Manual Communication Mode

    Manual Communication Mode can be used to directly access the vehicle bus.  The only formatting that takes place is the final byte CRC/Checksum error byte so you have complete control over the type and makeup of the message.  The Manual Communication Mode includes features to screen vehicle responses, continuous data retrieval and data formatting.  Using this function, you can use Mode $13 to request trouble codes from the ABS controller or use Mode $22 to request extended PID functions. 

    For example, using VPW, a request message of '6C28F113' would result in all diagnostic codes available from the ABS controller (Address $28) being returned to the scan tool (Address $F1).  Decoding the message is the same as defined in J1979 for Mode $03.
